Lucille Jacobs Brandon & Robert Brandon
Lucille Jacobs was born November 26, 1914, in Howard County, Arkansas to Hulet Newton Jacobs and Stella Stone Jacobs.  Hulet was born in 1881 and died in 1972.

Lucille attended Center Point school from which she graduated in 1933.  Her senior trip was to Little Rock.
 
Mr. Jacobs never owned a car. A mule was their mode of transportation..  He was a farmer who raised a little cotton.
 
The Jacobs didn't have electricity.  On Saturday nights their "thing to do" for amusement was to make candy when she was a child..
 
Miss Jacobs married Robert Green Brandon who was born March 12, 1915, at Center Point, Arkansas in Howard County.
 
Robert Brandon was in the 9th Armd. Div. at Ft. Riley, KS. He served as a private 1st class in the 81 mm Mortor Platoon of HQ Co., 52nd Armd. Inf. Bn.
 
On December 19, 1944, while fighting in Belgium, Brandon became a POW.  He was marched to Germany where he was forced to repair railroad tracks that had been bombed by the Allies.  On Easter Sunday, April 1, 1945, the prisoners were rescued by American troops.
 
He came to Lonoke after the War and became a barber..  Hair cuts were 25 cents.
